Tea Caddy
Boston, Massachusetts c. 1810
Mahogany, holly, ebony, eastern white pine
Features: Lid with figured mahogany oval enclosed by rope inlay banding, in a field of mitered ribbon stripe veneer. Edge of lid and case inlaid with rope pattern, bottom edge of lid has the rope inlay extended and shaped to a bull nose. Interior divided into two sections with wooden lids and ivory knobs (imitation). Interior of tea compartments and drawer lined with marbled paper. Sides and back inlaid with stringing. Drawer inlaid to mimic two drawers. French feet with scrolled apron, below a complex banding. Sand shaded fan at center of apron.
